Does anyone have any info on the Medela Clario suction machine? We are hoping to try one out with Sam, to see if it is any quieter, and lighter, for school. Are they offering free trials? I have tried their website, but it is not much help.
Thanks
Julie

Thanks Julie for this request for info. We will look into this and post a reply as soon as possible.
Webmaster.
Hi Julie. Please give Isobel Reay a call (number is on back of newsletter) as she has quite a bit of experience on the Clario and can point you to the right person at Medela. Rebecca Clifford, committee member, has trialled the Clario so you could also give her a call to find out her opinion on using it. There should be more about the Clario in the forthcoming newsletter too, so look out for it during the next few weeks! All the best, Amanda
Thanks Amanda, I met Rebecca at a tracheostomy group focus day last year, I will ask her. Thanks
Julie, I've had a Clario since the middle of last year and have had no problems with it. Medela were happy for me to trial it for a few months before agreeing to buy it too. We've had to purchase it ourselves as the NHS in our area won't fund, but to be honest I didn't really push the issue.
It's a lot quieter than our other machine (the devilbliss), although the bag is probably slightly smaller, but enough room for spare tubes and catheters. The bag is lovely too, and doesn't look like a bit of medical equipment.
Oh yes, and the other thing is it fits rather perfectly on the back of Dominic's trike. Keep meaning to contact Medela to see if they need a poster boy!
Laura (mum to Dominic age 2)
Hi Laura
Have you got a picture(jpeg)that I could have of Dominic and his trike with the ~Clario bag featured on the back, that I can put in the newsletter. Also I would be very grateful if you would either write a little bit about your experience with the Clario or to let me put your comment from the blog into the next newsletter. I would need it by the 28th February at the latest.

Sorry, I've only just got reply today...don't login much! I've got lots of photos of Dominic on his trike, but all are from the front, so you can't actually see the Clario. I am going to get my husband to try and get a picture of Dominic tomorrow on his trike and will hopefully get this to you tomorrow evening. I'm at work tomorrow, so I won't have time to write anything, but it is fine to use my comment.
Thanks
Laura
Thank you Laura
Look forward to hearing from you

Apologies to anyone who has had any problems contacting Sue Oliver at Medela about the Clario. I made an error in the last ACT newsletter and got a digit wrong in her contact telephone number! The correct number is 07990594102
thanks Isobel, mine's coming on friday!
We have really enjoyed trialling the clario, it is certainly better than the devilbiss, though I don't think it is as robust as the laerdal. It is very light and great for going out and the bag does have plenty of room for catheters, tubes, etc. My only concern was that the bag looked a little too much like a laptop bag and you would be at risk of it being stolen by some opportunist thinking they were getting a laptop.
