Could anyone give some advice on transferring to a booster car seat (the full seat rather than the cushion) with a small 5 year old child. The usual car seat belt crosses very near to the trachy tube so any ideas for preventing the seat belt rubbing against or near the tube would be gratefully received. If anyone can recommend a particular car seat over another, it would be useful.
Many thanks!!

We have the JCM High Support car seat for Sam. It is the Recaro Start, but has extra 'bits'. Sam's has a lateral support belt and then he has the adult seat belt to secure him. there is a roller at the side of the shoulder that you fit the adult seat belt through to prevent it crossing the trachy. It was pretty expensive though, we had to apply for charity funding for ours. Prior to that we had the Britax Freeway Excel, which has a 5 point harness. Because Sam has mild autism he kept 'escaping' from this one though!
Thank you,
The Ricaro looks great but a lot of the functionality-and probably cost- is not needed for Kiera as she is mobile. Will definitely keep it in mind though.
The Britax seat doesn't seem to be on the Britax website unfortunately, as this sounds ideal-is this for age 4-11 yrs old too?
I've also emailed Britax too for their suggestions.
We use a Graco booster seat (has those pull-out cupholders in the corners of the seat) for my 8 year old daughter, and it cost us £39.99 from Halfords a couple of months ago. The head rest, which incorporates the seat-belt holder is adjustable to very low. My son is nearly 4, has dwarfism so is really tiny, but we can use this seat for him quite comfortably at a pinch. Because he's still so small I feel he's safer in his Maxi-cosi seat with 5-point harness.
